  IN THE GARAGE . . .

After getting bitten by the track day bug on a kettle, my plans have now changed and am now building a track orientated bike, not quite sure how it will end up, but have a collection of parts at the moment plus the bike, so watch this space.

Its already on bandit 600 running gear, here is my 2nd bandit swing arm which I have just had around 4 to 5 inches taken out of  it, to get it to similar geometry to standard kettle dimensions

BE CAREFUL OUT THERE, HAMMIE.

  Update April 2007

well folks my first bandit swingarm i had modded became expensive scrape metal [it had distorted too much] but me old muckka marly reeves came to the rescue and modded another which is perfect

have had 12 mill taken off the sprocket carrier, spaced the front sprocket out 2 mill, cut down the chain guard, and fitted some piggy back shocks, should have it up and running in a few weeks to see how it handles !!!!!!!

Update April 2008

After 2 trackdays i had found that i had a few problems with my unknown history 32 year old engine, it had suffered from some chronic jumping out of 3rd and 4th gear when on full chat on the track resulting in some massive over revs, i had also had some gear selector problems when it wouldn't change down from 4th to 3rd on several occasions, so i have recently pulled the motor apart in time for this years fun with it and probably not a moment too soon

I part of the piston skirt had gone completely on the rh pot, bike was still running ok as such but the remains of it was found in the gearbox as some nice ally sludge, the dogs on 3rd gear were very worn, and it must have lost the water pump cog at some stage in its life as some nice large bits of white nylon were found sitting under the gear selector drum.

i have had a set of barrels warmed up by Adrian Mann of 77bhp at the back wheel fame, i am re ringing the pistons as the bores seem ok on these barrels he has trimmed the pistons too, a different gearbox with much less wear care of Phil Jones will be going in [owe you a big favour now phil], ebc clutch kit with heavy duty springs, and i will be reverting to cv carbs up jetted to 120 and ramair filters, going back onto oil tank as well now i can replace the broken oil pump drive shaft, hopefully after all this i will have a Dave and Phil beater [may have to lose a few lbs as well to help the cause thou] looking at going back to Oulton Park and trying Donnington this year and maybe the new track at Anglesey as well

cheers for now Hammie
